It has also secured the first position in the engineering category. In the innovation category, the institute has bagged the 2nd position. Indian Institute of Technology Madras was established in 1959. As per the NIRF Ranking 2022, the institute was ranked 1st in the overall category with a score of 87.59. It was ranked 2nd in the research category with a score of 86.38.
